ATTORNEY POSITION(S)

Nou Kab Project: Background

Nou Kab (We can in Haitian Creole) was founded seven years ago with a fellowship from Equal Justice Works, Greenberg Traurig law firm and The Florida Bar Foundation. FIAC’s Lucha: A Woman’s Legal Project, established in 1998 to serve immigrant victims of domestic violence, found that Haitian women were not seeking assistance and the few who did were not forthcoming about something as private as victimization. The project is now well established in the Haitian community through outreach presentations and education, biweekly radio shows, and the needed cultural sensitivity to inspire confidence in clients.
